Getting your leg over has never been so hard!
|
The first show as part of the Sherman Theatre’s exciting autumn programme under its new Artistic Director will be the frank and hilarious sex comedy, Wendy Hoose from 10 – 13 September.
Following their sell out tour in Scotland earlier this year, Birds of Paradise & Random Accomplice will be bringing their acclaimed comedy smash hit to Wales for the first time.
Wendy Hoose is the story of a couple who just want sex. Late Friday night drunken sex. Nothing more. No strings attached. But getting your leg over is sometimes more difficult than you think. Containing scenes of a sexual nature, Wendy Hoose is about two twenty year olds searching for love in all the wrong places! Especially when those places involve the fickle and flirty world of dating apps.
Wendy Hoose follows Jake (James Young) on his quest for some late night fun with Laura (Amy Conahan) via a mobile phone dating app. All is going well thanks to some sexy texting, but things take a slight twist when it comes down to the nitty gritty, and the course of true love, or in this case sex, does not run smoothly.
Birds of Paradise is a Scotland based theatre company, creating world-class performances that place disabled artists centre stage. Birds of Paradise have co-produced Wendy Hoose with another Scottish company, Random Accomplice who most recently produced the 'gold medal' production News Just In for the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games, a brand new comedy show performed every night of the Games.
Robert Softley Gale, Artistic Director, Birds of Paradise said: "When we were developing Wendy Hoose for its first outing, Johnny and I hoped it'd make audiences laugh but - in all honesty - we were bowled over by the sell-out performances and we loved listening to the audiences hysterical laughter night after night. We're really happy to be bringing it back for those who didn't catch it first time round or for those who want to see it again."
Johnny McKnight, Co-artistic Director, Random Accomplice added: “It’s with a sense of delight and joy that we bring Wendy Hoose back out on tour. The real joy is when everything just gels and the chemistry is right. Wendy Hoose is one of those experiences. We never tried to be shocking or new or different. We tried to tell the truth. And I think we did. We wanted to make a comedy about dating today – it’s a nightmare. Trying to negotiate dating and drinking on a Friday night is hard enough - throw a Tindr or Grindr into the mix and there's potential for a story that you're going to share for months to come. Wendy Hoose is one possible story.”
All performances include audio description, BSL and animated surtitles.
Wendy Hoose will be at Sherman Theatre on Wednesday 10 and Thursday 11 September at 7.30pm, Friday 12 September and Saturday 13 September at 5.30pm and 9pm. Suitable for ages 16+. For further information and tickets please contact Sherman Theatre on 029 2064 6900 or visit |
