How Do You Eat An Elephant?
|
National Youth Theatre of Wales (NYTW) members are seeking to answer life’s big questions this summer – from the bonkers, through the mildly strange to the deeply serious – with a new piece of theatre, How Do You Eat An Elephant?
If you’ve ever wanted to know everything there is to know in the whole world – ever – then join them on a mind-boggling, multimedia journey of discovery and revelation!
The fifteen performers and nine production members of NYTW 2014 are currently in-residence in Aberystwyth, where they are building their own theatre (literally!), and learning a variety of performance techniques and skills. For an intensive ten-day period, the Creative Team and performers are generating material and creating narratives to challenge themselves and their audiences; they are also connecting with people beyond the rehearsal room, via a variety of social-media platforms, and introducing an interactive dimension to the performance.
Their intention is to create a production that is informative, entertaining and provocative to share with audiences in Aberystwyth, Merthyr and Cardiff between 3 – 6 September.
NYTW 2014 is delighted to welcome the expertise and experience of: Jude Christian (Artistic Director), who has worked with National Theatre Studio, ROH and NYT GB; Aled Pedrick (Associate Director – Welsh), who has worked with Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru; Gaby Slade (Design), who made the amazing set for last year’s NYTW/Frantic Assembly collaboration, dead born grow; Josh Pharo (Lighting Design), who worked on the projections and lighting for National Theatre’s Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time; Joe White (Sound Design), who is currently performing in Stomp in London’s West End; and Foxy & Husk, award-winning film-makers.
This is the second year in the Youth Theatre’s programme of engaging with new professionals, different genres and alternative ways of working.
