PLYING BURTON winns BAFTA     

PLYING BURTON winns BAFTA PLAYING BURTON, the film adaptation of the long-running stage-play, won a BAFTA Cymru at the recent awards ceremony at the WMC in the category 'best feature telefilm'.


It starred Tenby-born Josh Richards, currently with the RSC.

Direction was by Wyndham Price and it was produced by his company SPINNING HEAD FILMS in conjunction with artist and businessman David Hughes.


The script was by playwright and screenwriter Mark Jenkins and the film has had numerous screenings on Sky Arts television.

The BAFTA film award marks the culmination of 23 years of the stage vesrion of the Playing Burton project; over which time it has
toured all over the UK, USA, Canada, Ausralia, New Zealand, Europe, Israel and parts of Scandinavia. The film version now opens up the possibility
of even wider distrbution to the viewing public. It was made on a shoestring budget by a team that believed in its artistic quality.


It is hoped that a DVD and art-house cinematic release may follow shortly.
