An exciting new production opens on Friday 17th April .

'The Trial of Hermann Ethé' is a new play by Tom Francis which tells the true story of Professor Hermann Ethé and his wife, Harriet.

Professor Ethé was a popular and well-respected member of staff at the university in Aberystwyth, but the outbreak of the First World War resulted in him being run out of the seaside town by a mob of 2,000 people.

Though set against the backdrop of the First World War, the play addresses much broader themes.

First and foremost this is a love story; it's the story of how Hermann and Harriet must fight to save their marriage whilst being put through a harrowing ordeal. It also tackles the general issues of war, privacy, and our attitude to living alongside people who are different to us; issues as relevant today as they were a century ago.

'The Trial of Hermann Ethe opens on Friday 17th April to Sunday 19th April, with matinees on both Saturday and Sunday at the Morlan Centre, Queens Road, Aberystwyth, then transfers to Neuadd Dyfi, Aberdovey on Friday 24th April, The Dragon Theatre, Barmouth on Saturday 25th April and Y Tabernacl, Machynlleth on Saturday 9th May.

Hermann Ethé is played by John Edwards. His wife Harriet is played by Sian Taylor. Alex Neil is the Ethés' friend and colleague, Albert Lawrence and the maids, Mair and Bethan, are played by Emma Sims and Paula Gallagher, who alternate the roles they play at every performance.

Tickets for ALL the above performances can be reserved by calling the Louche Theatre Box Office on 01970 612617, plus for the DRAGON THEATRE performance their box office too, on 01341 281697. If you'd like to know more then call the Louche Theatre Box Office on 01970 612617 or visit our web site at www.louchetheatre.com.

Following the tour of Wales, 'The Trial of Hermann Ethé' transfers to the Edinburgh Fringe, Greenside Theatre, venue 209.
