Theatr Ffynnon Responds to Decision by Arts Council of Wales to withdraw its revenue funding!
Following yesterday's decision by the Arts Council of Wales to withdraw its revenue funding, Theatr Ffynnon has reiterated its commitment to producing high quality work involving people with learning disabilities and mental health and has welcomed the Arts Council's offer, to find other ways of helping support Theatr Ffynnon's artistic programme and vision.

Theatr Ffynnon’s Chair, Hamish Sandison, commented: We take comfort from the Arts Council's assessment that we offer 'something different and distinctive,' and we look forward to working with the Arts Council to deliver on its promise to 'find other ways of helping' Theatr Ffynnon deliver on its creative vision.

Mr Sandison added: "Following a radical re-structure in July 2012 having been appointed to the Revenue Funded Organisation portfolio in 2011, we the Board and Director of Theatr Ffynnon have made incredible strides to fulfil its potential and ambition - strengthening the Board, implementing good governance and best practice; producing a rigorous and strong business plan; delivering a bold, challenging and exciting programme of work and a respect and reputation for doing so”.

The Director of Theatr Ffynnon, Patricia O’Sullivan, said: “Whilst we are incredibly disappointed with ACW’S decision to no longer revenue fund us, we remain focused and committed to delivering a high quality accessible and inclusive programme of work that is relevant, experimental, bold and ambitious. All of which have inclusion, access and participation at their heart”.

Ms O'Sullivan added: “Over the next couple of weeks Board and staff will be working tirelessly to implement the contingency plans already set in place for such an outcome in order to move the organisation forward through what will be undoubtedly a difficult period for us all.”

“With this in mind, we are looking forward to the production “The Unique Me”, which is a collaboration with Theatr Iolo, directed by Kevin Lewis Iolo’s Artistic Director to create and deliver two accessible performances in November at Chapter Stwdio, Cardiff. We also have a site specific project (pending funding) culminating in May/June 2016, directed by renowned French Director Mathilde Lopez Norton (August 012) which sees us rolling up in a 8ft by 18ft lorry at various venues/communities in Wales”.
