The Met: Live in HD - Wagner: Tannhauser

The Met: Live in HD - Wagner: Tannhauser James Levine, acclaimed for his interpretation of Wagner at the Met and in his recordings, returns on with the classic Otto Schenk production of Tannhäuser that he premiéred at the Met in 1977 as the new Music Director. The performance will be shown at Mwldan on Monday 2 November at 6.15pm.

He is joined by Johan Botha and Eva-Maria Westbroek, who make their Met role debuts as Tannhäuser and Elisabeth, having appeared together in these roles at the Royal Opera House in 2010. Peter Mattei sings Wolfram alongside Michelle DeYoung as Venus and Günther Gröissbock as the Landgraf.

This year’s broadcasts also include six new Met productions, including William Kentridge’s Lulu, which Musical America, after its recent premiére at the Dutch National Opera, called “a stunning piece of visual art, a graphic reflection on Alban Berg’s masterpiece that will go far.” Lulu is screening at Mwldan on Saturday 21 November at 5.30pm.

Tickets for MET Opera screenings are £16 (£15) and are available now from Mwldan's Box Office on 01239 621200, online or via Smartphones at
