‘The Greatest Liar In All The World’ Familia de la Noche return to Pontardawe Arts Centre after scooping International Award at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2015

Carmarthenshire based theatre company Familia de la Noche are returning to Pontardawe Arts Centre this November fresh from winning a ThreeWeeks Editors’ Award at this year’s Edinburgh Fringe Festival. The award is only given to 10 companies out of over 3000 performing at the festival. The Editors selected the company for producing “consistently outstanding” shows – The Greatest Liar in all the World in 2013/2014 and The Very Grey Matter of Edward Blank in 2015. The ThreeWeeks Editors wrote:

“At Fringe 2013, the recipients of our next award thrust their way into the collective ThreeWeeks consciousness with ‘The Greatest Liar In All The World’, a show which wowed our reviewer, who pronounced its blend of shadow theatre, masks, music and magic to be “flawless”. Two years on, and another of our reviewers was blown away by their 2015 show ‘The Very Grey Matter Of Edward Blank’, which she considered an “extraordinary” piece of work. Commending all aspects, from set design to consistently brilliant performances, she concluded: “A look at just how colourful the dark parts of our minds can be, this nightmarish fantasy might keep you up past your bedtime”. Our next winners are Familia De La Noche.”

Familia de la Noche are bringing the 5* and now award-winning The Greatest Liar in all the World back to Pontardawe Arts Centre, where it was initially developed, on the 12th November 2015. The show has been charming audiences aged 8 to 88 across the country since Edinburgh and is now coming home.

Using Familia de la Noche’s hilarious mix of clowning, puppetry, music and shadowplay, The Greatest Liar in all the World has enchanted audiences with a story of extraordinary encounters, curious characters and lost love. Following the story of The Liar, a broken down, 2 bit mentalist act who has reached the end of his tether and threatens to end it all. His company of glamorous and not so glamorous assistants manage to distract him from his imminent demise and convince him to tell the story of his infamous origins.
