|
This March, OPRA Cymru will be heading out on their sixth national tour with their new Welsh language production of Donizetti's popular comedy, DEIGRYN YN Y DIRGEL (L'Elisir d'Amore).
After previous successful tours, we shall be visiting more locations than ever before. Starring this year will be the talented tenor, Rhodri Prys Jones in the leading role of Nemorino, Aoife O'Connell as Adina. Meilir Jones, the baritone from Llangefni, playing the role of Belcore and the experienced Gareth Rhys Davies as Dr. Dulcamara.
The tour also features OPRA Cymru’s Chamber Orchestra under the baton of Anthony Negus, Music Director of Longborough Festival Opera.
“ This is a tour of notable firsts”, says company artistic Director Patrick Young, “It’s the first of our productions to feature a complete chamber ensemble. We are also hounoured to be presenting the first fully-staged opera at the new Bryn Terfel Theatre in Bangor. And to our knowledge, this is the first ever Welsh language version of this most popular of Donizetti’s operas. With this company of exeptional young talents, we’re confidently expecting to offer a musical and vocal feast under the leadership of Anthony Negus.” |
