'KNOWN' at Theatr Clwyd
|
Through extensive interviews over the last two years, Snippet Theatre Company has collected a vast amount of verbatim material surrounding the lives of people living in Porthmadog, a small town in North Wales.
Snippet Theatre Company explores how universal issues specifically affect individual communities. ‘Known’ explores how the community of Porthmadog had to come to terms with the murder of a young woman that touched and affected everyone.
The names of murdered women become part of our collective psyche, but what happens to those that are left to rebuild community life? How does a community react not only to a tragedy, but also to the realization that one of their own, someone they knew, is capable of committing such a horrific act of violence? These are some of the questions posed in ‘Known’, our debut piece of theatre. Whilst not seeking to answer the questions of what happened that night; 'Known' is a delicate and often witty exploration of a community learning to rebuild after a devastating tragedy.
