Theatr na n’Og expand their team     

Neath based Theatre In Education company Theatr na n'Og have just returned from the National Eisteddfod in Meifod, where they worked with 160 children to produce a show which received a standing ovation from nearly 3000 audience members. The company now goes in to rehearsals for their annual primary school production for years five and six, Painting with Light, to be performed at the Dylan Thomas Theatre in Swansea from September to December.

The company provide a first class theatre in education service to schools in Neath Port Talbot, Swansea and Bridgend. The company also tour productions to general audiences in venues across the UK. Formerly Theatre West Glamorgan, the company have been producing high quality theatre for young people in English and Welsh for over twenty years. Theatr na n'Og are the only professional producing theatre company based in Neath.

The company have celebrated their continuing success with the appointment of two new full-time members of staff.

Ceri Truscott has been appointed as Marketing Officer and she will be working hard to raise the profile of the company both regionally and nationally. Ceri has worked in Arts Marketing since graduating from the University of Glamorgan in 2000 with a degree in English Studies and Theatre Media Drama. She has joined Theatr na n'Og from her position as Marketing Officer at a busy theatre in the Gwent valley.

"I am Neath born and bread and I am pleased to be back working in my home town," says Ceri. "I want everybody to know the name Theatr na n'Og and to see the company's work on a regular basis."

Rachel Clancy is the new Education Development Officer. She will be liaising with the schools in all three counties in order to maintain and enhance Theatr na n'Og's significant role within education. Rachel is a music graduate and a qualified and experienced secondary school teacher. Rachel is originally from Gorseinon in Swansea but now lives in Pontardulais.

"Theatr na n'Og is a prestigious and vibrant company, which is held in high esteem by teachers and pupils," says Rachel. "I look forward to developing this well established relationship, furthering Theatr na n'Og's service within education."

Over 16,000 young people from over 200 schools in Neath Port Talbot, Swansea and Bridgend attended Theatr na n'Og productions in 2002/03.
