National Conference on Art and Market Towns     

Yorkshire based arts organisation Chrysalis Arts will be holding a national conference to highlight how arts can assist with the regeneration and growth of market towns. The conference will take place on the 9th and 10th of October 2003

The conference, entitled, Art and Market Towns, aims to demonstrate the possibilities for art to deliver economic, social and environmental agendas as part of the regeneration of former market towns. Sessions will also discuss public art and the built environment as well as marketing the creative sector.

The key themes of the event will be:
- The contribution of creative industries to local distinctiveness and cultural tourism the importance of high quality design
- The impact of visual artists and makers and encouraging community consultation and capacity building through the arts.

The conference is aimed at market town partnerships, local authority arts officers and economic development officers, planners, architects, councillors, regeneration, organisations, artists, arts development agencies and voluntary sector representatives.

The cost of attending is £90 for public bodies and £60 for individuals.
