Artswave is offering a series of cultural events in March to promote networking between cultural practitioners and administrators from Wales and Ireland. Details are as follows: Thursday 11th March, 6:45 for 7:00 pm start, £12 (incl. supper) - A session with storytellers Cuala Verbal Arts (Ireland) and Mary Medlicott (Wales); writer Malachy Doyle (Wales), traditional musician Brendan Martin (Ireland), and poets Meirion MacIntyre Huws (Wales), Mark Roper, Dympna Dreyer and Katie McCarthy (Ireland); and others. Saturday 13th March, morning, afternoon, and evening events *Morning (10:00 am) - Coffee and an illustrated lecture by John O’Connor (Ireland-based sculptor) and John Howes (Chair, Sculpture Cymru), followed by a lunch break which includes instrumental and vocal music recitals. *Afternoon - After lunch Peter Lord (art historian and researcher) will speak on aspects of the Visual Culture of Wales, and Dr. Brian Kennedy (head of applied and fine art, Ulster Museum) will speak on American Influences on Irish Art, 1880-1960. Refreshments at 5:00pm. *Evening (6:45 for 7:00 pm) - Three course supper with a recital. Prices are: Daytime (incl. lunch) - £25; one session (morning or afternoon, no lunch) - £7.50; one session and lunch/recital - £17.50; lunch and recital only - £12.50. Friday and Saturday March 26th and 27th, Concerts at 7:30 pm - a weekend of music in Fishguard, bringing together choirs, classical and traditional musicians from west Wales, the south-east of Ireland and the US. Tickets are £5 (free to those under 18).
