Clwyd Theatr Cymru's mobile theatre to hit the road again...
|
An extract from the Culture Committee minutes from March 10th, 2004
Mobile theatre
+ Clwyd Theatr Cymru’s mobile theatre was to receive a one-off grant of £100,000 from the Welsh Assembly Government to run a touring community theatre this year.
+ The mobile theatre has not been able to tour for two years after its commercial sponsorship ran out.
+ The grant would be funded from the first phase of the Arts Outside Cardiff scheme which the Minister announced last autumn.
+ The mobile theatre’s work was highly compatible with the community focus element of that scheme – where the aim was to take micro-performance to smaller and non-traditional venues such as community centres and village halls.
+ Community participation was an important component of the Arts Outside Cardiff and the mobile theatre fulfils that objective. The target audiences for the mobile theatre would be disadvantaged communities such as Communities First areas.
+ Details of the mobile theatre’s tour were yet to be finalised but with the Assembly Government grant the theatre would be able to tour for some four weeks.
