The New Theatre is proud to present the World Premiere concert performance of a new musical called Only the Brave. Written by Cardiff-based Matt Brind and Steve Coleman, the show has already attracted a great deal of attention from some of the West-End’s top producers. But before London gets to see it, there’s a special chance to see the show performed at the New Theatre on Sunday 18 April. Set in the days following D-Day in 1944, Only the Brave follows a group of friends as they make their way into France. Through the camaraderie, exhilaration and utter fear of battle, their friendship is redefined and when tragedy occurs, the lives of those left behind are altered irrevocably. With a moving and uplifting score performed by a large orchestra and stirring lyrics sung by a cast of West End performers, this is an epic musical in the same genre as Les Miserables. Composer, Matt Brind and writer Steve Coleman have been friends for years and came up with the very first lines of Only the Brave whilst on a holiday to Ibiza. Having run out of money, Matt and Steve found themselves confined to their apartment discussing their passion for musical theatre. And so Only the Brave was born. Five years after that holiday and following a huge amount of work, they are finally staging the World Premiere of this epic musical and have chosen their home city of Cardiff to be the starting point of what they hope will become something big. Susan Lewis, Theatre Manager said: “I’m delighted that the New theatre will be staging the World Premiere of this exciting new musical. Matt and Steve have written an outstanding piece which I’m sure will be a great success for them” . Only the Brave boasts a principal cast of West End professionals as well as featuring a 60 strong chorus of local young talent. With an orchestra of 40 conducted by Matt Brind, this promises to be a performance not to be missed. Only The Brave is at the New Theatre, Cardiff for one night only on Sunday 18 April. The Premiere Concert Performance is at 7.30pm with a Special Preview performance at 3.00pm. Tickets are on sale now with all preview tickets at £6 and tickets for the Premiere Concert costing from £7.
