MISSION TO SELL OUT NEXT SHOW IS COMPLETED

As the curtain comes down on Big Bad Wolf, Theatr na n’Og’s hugely successful tour to infants’ schools across Swansea, Neath Port Talbot and Bridgend, the company’s autumn production for years five and six has already sold out!

This year the production, Halt! Who Goes There? is set in Bridgend during World War II, centering on the night of 10th-11th March 1945 when 67 German Prisoners of War tunnelled to freedom from Camp 198 in Bridgend. It was the biggest escape attempt made by German POWs in Great Britain during World War II.

Out of the drudgery of the rationing and the blackout come the most exciting time for John and his friends.

"This is the best hide and seek game ever!"

Armed with sticks and catapults John and his two friends, Fred and Bubble set about catching the Gerries. In fact the whole community take part in the hunt for the POWs, from the village constable to the farmer's wife!

Theatr na n’Og’s annual production for children aged nine to eleven, staged at the Dylan Thomas Theatre in Swansea, runs for 16 weeks and is probably the longest run of a production at a single venue for children in Wales! It is the company’s most popular project and once again primary schools across the three local authorities have grabbed their dates quickly.

The schools spend a whole day in Swansea, watching the performance and taking part in the accompanying activities at Swansea Museum. Each class also receives an education pack and CD-rom compiled by the company and with advice from specially seconded primary school teachers.

There are evening performances for the public, so please contact the company on 01639 641771 for dates and times.

The production is written and directed by Theatr na n’Og’s Artistic Director Geinor Jones. The company celebrates its 20th birthday this October and this proves that the company continues to go from strength to strength.
