Odyssey Theatre, Hijinx Theatre’s mixed ability participatory group, will pave the way for the success of Wales Millennium Centre in a variety of performances during the opening fortnight. Odyssey Theatre is the epitome of what Wales Millennium Centre stands for; an inclusive, fun and enjoyable cultural experience. Odyssey Theatre is at the heart of the South Wales community, and it is hoped that Wales Millennium Centre will provide a valuable cultural service to communities also. As part of the opening weekend celebrations, Odyssey Theatre will take part in the opening ceremony at 3:30pm on Friday 26th November. Later that evening, Odyssey Theatre will be one of the first on the Donald Gordon stage as part of the opening number for the People’s Gala. During Saturday 27th November when Wales Millennium Centre is hosting a variety of free events for the public, Odyssey Theatre will be performing The Good, The Bad and The Cuddly in the Weston Studio Theatre at 11:45am. This is a new production of a spoof on virtually any Western you’ve ever seen, (and many you haven’t), bursting with big country music and sprinkled with Marx brother humour. The Good, The Bad and The Cuddly will then be performed from 2nd – 4th December 2004 at 7:30pm in the Weston Studio Theatre. Odyssey Theatre is a participatory group for anyone with a desire to perform, and includes adults with learning disabilities. Odyssey members have a great deal of fun, juxtaposed with enhancing their personal and social skills. Hijinx Theatre are the only resident theatre company based at Wales Millennium Centre. They are Wales’ leading small scale touring theatre company in the English Language across Wales and England. |
