At the Torch by Torch Theatre Summer School- The History of Milford Haven in 67 Minutes The History of Milford Haven...in 67 Minutes?

Start the clock! The words that mark the beginning of writer and director Dave Ainsworth’s The History of Milford Haven in 67 Minutes performed by the Torch Theatre Summer School.

Sitting in the first two rows of the audience, the cast members patiently wait for the chatter of the audience to die down.

The Studio Theatre lights dim to reveal a spotlight on an old battered case just off centre stage. Cue the fun and laughter as the cast members eagerly jump from their seats revealing their plans to document snippets of Milford Haven’s history. The challenge is to fit all of it into 67 minutes. Will they be successful?

The secrets of Milford Haven’s Viking origin are revealed to be the catalyst of a thriving fishing harbour marking the vibrant and important role Milford Haven had towards the industry of Great Britain.

An animated and funny script is delivered with plenty of enthusiasm by the cast members of The Torch Theatre Summer School who are all from secondary schools throughout Pembrokeshire. The historical events are re-enacted with gusto, informing the audience of the rich history of Pembrokeshire’s natural harbour.
